Cheung Chau Montage
Cheung Chau was a 1-hour one-way ferry ride from Hong Kong which I did not regret one bit. It was a needed break from the hustle and bustle of the city, trading it for bikes, hiking trails, and a much slower pace for a day.
The song Above Me by Leisure was chosen because it captured the dreamy, blissful feeling of biking and hiking around the island. It was a hot day, so that mindset shaped how we moved around the island, and the film simulation captures that warm mood perfectly.
My favourite of editing this project was the sound design. I layered in things like a whooshing buildup which created a climax before the drop, the bike bell, and I pulled certain bits of real audio out, such as the birds chirping, along with the subtle click of a button being pressed whenever the pictures came up. Working through the sound design made me realise how much of what we actually experience comes through senses we barely pay attention to, and how much all of that quietly adds up to deliver the overall mood.
